We raise our own tilapia because we know what they have been feed, therefore they are healthy food for us.
Above is a pic of half of our aquaponic fish tanks. We have 8 tanks of tilapia and 2 grow beds. We use IBC totes for our fish tanks. (Note, only use totes that were originally used as food containers, the best ones are ones that held juice. If your looking for a place to buy good quality totes contact us.)
The tops are cut off of the totes and the tanks are all plumbed together. The dirty fish water goes through a filter and then to the grow beds, the dirty fish water provides nutrients for the plants, the plant roots clean the water and the water is pumped back to the fish.
